Steel Edging Packages Sized for Commercial Work

Commercial landscape packages need a steel contractor who can read the drawings, price the quantities properly and install at volume once the site is ready. Fourever Steel & Corten fabricates every component in-house and installs with our own crew, so pricing, fabrication and installation stay with one business from tender through to handover.

We price directly from landscape plans, architectural drawings, specifications, Bills of Quantities and tender documents. Our completed work includes single projects of around 250 lineal metres. We've also recently tendered on a package of approximately 1,200 lineal metres of 100 x 5mm steel edging, which gives a fair indication of the package sizes we're set up to price, plan and deliver.

Supply Only, Fabrication Only or Full Supply and Installation

Every commercial job is resourced differently. Some contractors have their own installers and only need the steel, while others want one trade to take the whole edging package off their hands. We price all three ways.

Supply Only

Steel edging cut and prepared to your schedule and delivered to site, ready for your crew to install. This suits commercial landscapers and civil contractors who have labour on site and want consistent heavy-gauge material from a supplier who knows how it goes in the ground.

Fabrication Only

Custom components fabricated in our workshop to your drawings, including planter boxes, tree rings, large diameter circular edging, radius sections, fire pit rings, and Corten cladding and cappings. Your team handles installation, or we can price it as a separate item.

Full Supply and Installation

We measure, set out, fabricate and install, with rear-welded joins and concealed fixings completed on site by our own crew. Builders and head contractors choose this option when they want a single trade accountable for the edging package from set out to final inspection.

Not sure which option suits the job? Send the documents through with your preferred scope and we'll advise on the most practical approach for the site.

Fabricated for the Project, Built for the Finish

Many standard edging systems use lightweight sections joined with visible brackets, joiners, screws or bolts. On a commercial site the edging has to cope with foot traffic, maintenance equipment and years of weather, so how it's joined and fixed matters as much as the steel itself.

Our steelwork is custom measured, cut and fitted to each project. Joins and corners are welded from the rear, and fixing lugs and pins are welded directly to the back of the steel. The result is a continuous, integrated run with a clean finished edge and no visible hardware.

Rear-Welded Joins and Corners

Welding on the back face keeps the visible edge reading as one unbroken line, including through corners and changes in direction. Welding is done in our workshop or on site, depending on how the run is staged.

Concealed Rear Fixing

Fixing lugs are welded to the back of the steel and pinned into the ground, so every fixing sits behind the finished face and out of sight once the bed or surface is complete.

Heavy-Gauge Steel

We regularly fabricate and install 3mm Corten, 5mm mild steel and 6mm mild steel. Heavier and custom sections are available where the design or loading calls for them.

Custom Heights, Profiles and Radius Work

Profiles from 100mm up to 600mm high are within our fabrication and installation range, and other heights can be made to suit the design. All cutting, rolling and welding happens in-house, from tree rings and radius sections through to large diameter circular edging and a custom 6 metre diameter fire pit ring.

Retaining Edges, Planter Boxes and Tree Surrounds

Alongside edging, we fabricate steel retaining edges and walls, raised planter boxes, tree surrounds, fire pit rings, and Corten cladding and cappings.

A landscaped backyard garden with tiered flower beds bordered by rust-colored metal edging, filled with various plants and succulents. The yard features stepping stones, a gravel path, and a white house with a window and a fence in the background.

On suitable projects, our crew typically installs 150 to 200 lineal metres a day of standard profiles, including 100 x 3mm, 150 x 3mm, 200 x 3mm and 100 x 5mm. Larger profiles such as 300 x 3mm, 150 x 5mm, 200 x 6mm and 300 x 6mm are also within our installation range, with daily output depending on profile size, access, set out, site conditions and complexity.

Because all fabrication happens in our own workshop, we're never waiting on an outside fabricator for rings, radius sections or custom components. That keeps lead times in our hands and makes it easier to stage fabrication around your program.

Projects are led by director Jack Ellis, who brings more than 15 years' experience across construction, carpentry, site supervision, landscaping, steelwork and fabrication. With more than 300 projects completed, set out problems, difficult ground and tight access are familiar territory for our crew.

WHO WE WORKED WITH

Steel Edging for Landscapers, Builders and Landscape Architects

We supply, fabricate and install steel edging for commercial landscapers, civil contractors, builders, developers, councils, project managers and landscape architects across Melbourne and surrounding areas.

Commercial Landscapers

Hand the steel package to us and keep your crew on the soft landscaping, or keep installation in-house and order supply only material cut and prepared to your schedule. Either way, you're dealing with a fabricator who also installs, so the steel turns up ready for how it actually goes in.

Civil Contractors

We price heavy gauge 5mm and 6mm edging from civil drawings and BOQs, fabricate radius sections and retaining edges in-house, and coordinate installation around your program and other trades on site.

Builders and Developers

One trade responsible for edging, planter boxes and tree surrounds, with public liability insurance, WorkCover, SWMS and a 3 years workmanship warranty already in place for prequalification.

Landscape Architects

The best time to bring us in is while the design is still being developed. We can advise on material selection, thickness, profile height, fixing and join detailing, so the specification reflects what can be fabricated and installed cleanly on site. Our Architectural Steel Edging page covers specification detail in depth.
